The Beginning of the End
Hello there, ladies and gentle-folk. Welcome to the new super sleek and sexy Site Update, run by yours truly (also sleek and sexy). As we take time to enjoy this glorious autumn weather, I think you know what we're all really the most excited for, what we're the most anxious to see. In a few days, Halo 4 official drops.
I know, I know, shocker, right? I'm sure none of you knew about this. But it's true, I promise. Look it up. In a few days time Halo 4 will be out, and hopefully, in all of our eager hands. So, while activity has somewhat died down on the front page in the wake of Reach slipping past its time, prepare to get plenty of doses of front page awesomeness as we gear up for Halo 4.
So, pardon our dust, and get ready to take this next step with us.
Official Competitions
Congratulations to the winner of our 1v1 Smackdown competition, Shanon. You've truly proven yourself as the Defender of the Hub, and have dominated this tournament. I personally lost a bet because you won, but I'm sure it was nothing personal. But everyone who entered this tournament deserves congratulating, we couldn't have had such a successful tournament without you guys, and I'm sure you're all great Halo players. If you want to check out the victory salute, it's here.
Our Flag Reset competition has come to a climactic close, with the three winners being chosen. Congrats to cluckinho10 and his map Canary. The rest of the maps, and the official thread, can be found here. If you'd care to check out all of the awesome maps that were submitted for this tournament you may like to browse over the submission thread here.
And finally, our third annual Hub of the Dead competition has come and gone, leaving Cassel as the clear winner, with his awesome map(s) District 38. If you want to check out the rest of the winners, or the thread itself, float on over here. And if you'd like to check out all the horrifying and fantastic maps that were entered into this contest, check out the submission thread.
50 Shades of.... Hey!
So, as you may have noticed, we've had quite a few movers and shakers running about betwixt different ranks. Most of these transitions have stemmed from the journalist pool, with Chrstphrbrnn being promoted to Community Manager, Reflex Ion rejoining the journalist crowd, and Noxiw volunteering to become a Jr. Moderator. Not a journalist, but still near and dear to our hearts, is Rorak Kuroda who has recently chosen to step down from his moderator rank, leaving him a shiny new Artisan-green. Also, give a big hello to Organite who has just recently transcended the ranks of the masses to don the red robes of journalism. And somehow, against all the overwhelming odds, our very own xSharpshooter94 has made it up the ladder to become a full-fledged moderator.
Congratulations to everyone on their new colors, and we wish you luck.
The Rules, RuleSo, here on forge hub we like to run a pretty tight ship, and keep all our ducks in a row so to speak. Lately, in the dark forest that houses the staff chats, we've decided to do some updating to our rules. While some fairly interesting changes are taking place, nothing should change so incredibly that your experience will be any different with the site.
Certain rules are being changed to be up to snuff, and other rules are being cut down to hopefully lead to a more open and friendly forum experience. Also, the infraction system now works in a slightly different way. But I'll let Shock Theta explain all of that to you in his charismatic British accent.

We've updated our site rules and overhauled individual infractions. Replacing permanent infractions, members will now be hit with a 12 month infraction for repeated flirtation with the mods. The ban limit has been reduced from 6 points down to 5, and we've also removed all but one of the warned ranks, which now kicks in at 4 points total. Finally, we've updated our guidelines on spam to encompass a wider range of posts, and relaxed our stance on what we will view as spam posts within the map forums. Just want to show your appreciation for a great map? Go ahead.
Well there you have it folks. If you're still fuzzy on the new changes you can check here and read over our official rule page.
The Maps of Halo 4Here we are, so very close to the release of Halo 4, and a large amount of information has been official released. Most of the maps have been detailed by IGN, and you can watch walkthroughs of all of them.

The Guild:
[l-col]The Tester’s Guild: among the piles of armor and glistening weapon racks you’ll find a large number of Hubbers march into the digital battlefields and test the crap out of your newly crafted map. The guys in the Tester’s Guild may have personalized opinions, but each is capable of giving you input both on things they enjoyed and disliked about your map, helping you achieve a perfect gameplay balance before you post your newly polished battlefield here in our map database. Should you want them to give your map a run through, redirect your browser to this forum here, read the posting guidelines, and set yourself up for success through the men at work behind the scenes in the Tester’s Guild. Enjoy playing Halo? Enjoy giving map creators input? Work for the Guild![/l-col][r-col]Every so often (every other Friday to be exact) a selection of refined and scholarly individuals from our forums host an evening full of custom games and shenanigans. Depending on what those individuals choose to host, whether it be competitive, casual, infection, invasion, mini-game oriented or a mix of them all is up to these bastions of fun, but it's up to you which of these lobbies you join. Sit back, put your feet up, throw back that shot-glass full of Jack Daniels, and enjoy a night with cool dudes from all around the world. If you'd like to host your own official lobby for our next TGIF, send a private message to me, RightSideTheory, with all the details below filled out. .[/r-col]
Question of the Site Update:
Last time around we dropped a bunch of open ended questions on you about your experience with Halo, and what weapons you were looking forward to. We all had a lot of fun with that one, and everybody had cool answers, with some neat differing opinions thrown into the mix.
This time I'm just going to leave you with one question:
What part of Halo 4 are you looking forward to the most?
If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
