To celebrate 25 years of Halo, ForgeHub is proud to partner with Halo Studios to present the Halo Fest Forge Contest - a Forge contest focused on reimagining the spaces that defined Halo. This contest challenges creators to build original 4v4 arena maps inspired by iconic Halo multiplayer maps and campaign environments across the franchise. The goal is not to recreate the past exactly. The goal is to carry it forward.

Contest Theme

Spiritual Successors to Iconic Halo Spaces

Participants are encouraged to draw inspiration from across the Halo franchise, from Halo CE all the way through to Halo 5.

Submissions should reflect the identity, structure, and gameplay philosophy of core Halo experiences while introducing new ideas and modern gameplay depth.

What to Build

Create a 4v4 arena map designed for structured multiplayer play.

· Support standard 4v4 modes

· Encourage balanced engagements

· Promote strong map flow and movement

· Be designed for repeated play

This is not about one-off experiences.

This is about building maps that hold up over time.

Spiritual Successor Guidelines

You are encouraged to use Halo multiplayer maps and campaign spaces as direct sources of inspiration.

• Reinterpreting existing layouts
• Remixing structure and flow
• Expanding spaces with new routes and connections
• Introducing new gameplay opportunities

Direct remakes and one to one recreations are not allowed.

A strong submission should:

• Feel connected to a recognizable Halo space
• Introduce meaningful changes to layout and gameplay
• Expand on the original design with new ideas

Your map should feel familiar in spirit, but new in execution.

Design Principles

Submissions will be evaluated based on how well they capture core Halo gameplay fundamentals:

• Flow – natural movement between key areas
• Power Positions – meaningful control points
• Sightlines – intentional visibility and risk
• Engagement Rhythm – balanced combat pacing
• Replayability – strong long term play value
• Creativity – original ideas and unique design choices

Maps should feel competitive, readable, and built for repeated play.

Halo Fest & Matchmaking Opportunities

Selected finalist maps may be showcased or playable at Halo Fest as part of Halo’s 25 year celebration. In addition, standout submissions may be considered for future Halo Infinite matchmaking playlists following review and testing. The extended submission and review timeline is designed to allow time for evaluation, playtesting, and potential matchmaking consideration. For Forgers, this represents an opportunity to have your work experienced on one of Halo’s biggest stages and potentially become part of Halo Infinite’s online multiplayer.

All submissions must remain grounded in Halo’s established visual and design language.
