What can I say? There seems to be a trend toward tardiness goin' 'round these parts. But feel free to blame me! After all, I am the new guy. Pardon our (my) dust in this regard, as we try to grease the gears and get on a more stable schedule for you guys.
But in any event, welcome to the site update. Take a load off, sit back, relax. Light up a smoke and enjoy a hard hitting, but fair, exposé on the goings-on around this wonderful site of ours.
And hey, look at that, more contests!
Forge Hub 1v1 Smackdown
Check your rifles, ready your weapons, and strap your armor down tight. The opening round of the Smackdown 1v1 Tournament is taking place this week.
Featuring several community and staff made maps, our 1v1 tournament is turning out to be a delight to watch unfold, and hey, you can shoot people! If you still haven't downloaded the currently released maps and gametype, you can pick the map for the current round here, and you can pick up the map for the next round here. Even if you're not taking part in the tournament I would suggest checking out both of these maps, because Zombievillan and Dax have really outdone themselves.
In related, and very cool, news, if you missed out and didn't sign up for the tournament you might still have a chance to enter! No-shows from the first rounds will be losing their place in the tournament, and the gaps are going to be filled in with members that didn't quite make the cut. Stay tuned for more information on this front, in the vein of something official from your fearless leader Shock Theta.
A Fist-Full of Shotgun Shells
Take a break from honing your 1v1 skills and participate in some good old-fashioned "let-us-shoot-that-zombie-in-the-head" fun. This third iteration of the Hub of The Dead contest features only linear infection maps, a new direction for this reoccurring competition. This should allow for you to craft a compelling and story driven map experience.

The GuildThe Tester’s Guild: among the piles of armor and glistening weapon racks you’ll find a large number of Hubbers march into the digital battlefields and test the crap out of your newly crafted map. The guys in the Tester’s Guild may have personalized opinions, but each is capable of giving you input both on things they enjoyed and disliked about your map, helping you achieve a perfect gameplay balance before you post your newly polished battlefield here in our map database. Should you want them to give your map a run through, redirect your browser to this forum here, read the posting guidelines, and set yourself up for success through the men at work behind the scenes in the Tester’s Guild. Enjoy playing Halo? Enjoy giving map creators input? Work for the Guild!
Every so often (every other Friday to be exact) a selection of refined and scholarly individuals from our forums host an evening full of custom games and shenanigans. Depending on what those individuals choose to host, whether it be competitive, casual, infection, invasion, mini-game oriented or a mix of them all is up to these bastions of fun, but it's up to you which of these lobbies you join. Sit back, put your feet up, throw back that shot-glass full of Jack Daniels, and enjoy a night with cool dudes from all around the world. If you'd like to host your own official lobby for our next TGIF, send a private message to me, RightSideTheory, with all the details below filled out. Also note that you'll also be on your way to your glistening blue rank of TGIF Host, if you can keep it up for four awesome parties in a row.
What Did You Want On That, Sir?
We take nothing more seriously than food 'round these parts, and the previous Site Update left you with a question to reflect that. Last time you were asked: "My question to you guys is: What topping should I put on my crumpets when I get them?"
And, lucky enough for us, Transactionzero has "pics or it didn't happen" proof of exactly which toppings he chose for his delicious crumpet.
We got some mold. Time for Surgery.
Added butter to one and butter and jam to the other circumcised crumpets.*
PB prep
The peanut butter oozing into the crevices.*
Add bananas and wam!
This time I'll leave you with a different question, something a little bit more "Zen" so to speak, if you'll allow me one silly word per article.
How many roads must a man walk down, if he only takes the roads less traveled by?
If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
