Good Mocha... err, I mean morning! At least, it should be morning with all this talk about Coffee. It's not even talk about Coffee, it's talk from a Coffee. Those circus folk have their acrobatic fleas, but we, here at Forge Hub, have a cup of liquid-gold that shares thoughts about his/her/it's creative lifestyle on Halo.
Grab yourself a mug and dunk a sugar cube in for extra sweetness; This Spotlight follows our very own Mocha.
Stevo: So... Mocha, I take it you're a fan of hot beverages as well as Halo?
Mocha: Oh yes. I can't walk or talk without my coffee. Its like my nitrous can. Gives me enough juice to bring me where I want to go.
Stevo: And where is it that you want to go?
Mocha: Out of bed, walk to school, just moving and staying awake in general.
Stevo: What tickled your taste buds over at Forge Hub that ended up making you sign your internet life away?
Mocha: I lurked around the site a lot before I joined. I downloaded every cool aesthetic and mini game map I found. I joined when I made my first map at the dawn of Halo 3. Things were different back then. Less people.
Stevo: I'd imagine things would be different back then if the main reason was less people, Forge Hub will forever grow in size as it does age and thus, party-times would be much better... Wouldn't you agree?
Mocha: When there was less people everybody knew each other. Then when Reach came out, just tons of people joined the site like crazy. In the H3 days, your map can stay on the front page for about a week, now its like a few days. Don't get me wrong, I like all these new members. I've made tons of friends that joined when Reach came out.
Stevo: 'Friends' is a unique way to describe a person you enjoy killing multiple times in a single sitting. I'd consider them Socially Acceptable Banter Enriched Retards or SABERs for short... Want to know a little secret?
Mocha: I like secrets.
Stevo: I don't call them SABERs at all... I just think that was quite a good Reach reference you might have picked up on. Schooled.
Mocha: I haven't played Reach since the blackout. I guess I just got schooled then.
Stevo: Well, I guess you could have known it as Sabre or Saber... the flight craft in campaign?
Stevo: Moving on... It's very rare that I see you release map content... Is this because I'm blind, or do you not go into Forge mode all that often to create a map?
Mocha: I don't go into Forge mode that often. I like to forge Mini Game maps. It's hard to think of one these days. My bud, Confused Flamingo, was going to teach me the ways of forging a competitive map but I guess he has never had the chance to teach me yet.
Stevo: Well, considering that bird is often confused about life in general, I wouldn't have said he's the best bird to speak with. Buy a parrot, and give me it... I'll talk to it about stuff every day and then eventually he can relay you the information and thus you can learn about Britain... Anyway, Mini-games are cool but it's often hard to produce original mini-game maps that have new, unique twists to them. Did you forge them like crazy during the days of H3, with the easier-to-move movable items?
Mocha: I wish I had joined earlier. I didn't like to ghost merge or interlock. I just liked to place a bunch blocks down and stack them like legos. I had one mini game idea in Halo 3. Its when you wield clubs and go in a small arena and kill each other with golfballs. The golf clubs did no damage, their purpose was to smash golfballs into people. The map looked ugly and it had a lot of problems. So I decided to wait to release it for Reach. To answer your question, no. I joined too late :(
Stevo: Oh wow! You did miss out on a lot dude... the physics/mechanics you could create back then were fantastic and always provided unique ways to create gametypes/mini-games!
Stevo: If 343i got hit on the head with an uber large ban-hammer (one big enough to cover the entirety of the company) and caused them all to go into a confused state of concussion which ultimately lead to the removal of all gametypes from Halo, except one! Which one would you petition to save and why?
Mocha: I'm more of a casual gamer. I like objective based games. So my vote goes to KoTH. God I love KoTH.
Stevo: I wouldn't really say KOTH is casual... you can have some pretty crazy competitive games of KOTH, you know. So away from internet and gaming, what is it your life revolves around?
Mocha: Hanging out with friends and doings stupid stunts that get me into trouble.
Stevo: Stunts like diving head first over a home-made bonfire in your backyard wearing nothing but clingfilm soaked in petrol (gas), or the sort that has no life endangerment what-so-ever but causes you to go "Tee-Hee, watch this guys...... *SMASH* :Bottle of milk hits old lady's cat: RUN FOR IT!", am I close?
Mocha: Not like stunts you see in Jackass. When I was in the 8th grade, my friends and I found a shopping cart behind the school. So we were all thinking "hell yes". We all got our fair share of hopping into it and riding it all around the campus. Then one of my friends got his turn and we pushed him and he was going really damn fast and then he crashed right into our principal. We all got suspended. But it was really worth it and fun.
Stevo: Suspension isn't fun! Being a role model and all, I think this is where I say the compulsory 'Stay in school, kids!' phrase. Only because I always wanted to do that and then follow up with a cheesy grin and the thumbs up sign, like this uber cool guy. So, would you consider yourself a role model amongst your Forging peers?
Mocha: A role model? I've never thought of myself as one. Maybe, depends what kind of person would look up to me. I wouldn't want a bunch of mini Mochas running around on the site trolling and getting infracted. I have 28 infractions.
Stevo: That's pretty dire. I don't think SecretSchnitzel has that many infractions... I sense there's a profit to be made here: Every infraction you get from now on, you buy me a coffee. Café Latte please, Milk, one sugar!
Mocha: You have mod powers though...
Stevo: You saw through that one a little too quick... I think you've wised up a bit since the earlier 'schooling'. Could be a good time to call it a day. One last question though, and then a Community Spotlight favourite; What was your most favoured game of Halo? You can include ODST if you like.
Mocha: Halo 3. Why? The campaign was addicting, it was tons of fun. The fact you can get out of every level was just awesome. The multiplayer was also quite addicting. Double XP Weekends really took my weekends away. Fiesta was my favorite playlist. But the customs, oh shit the customs. Thats what really made Halo 3 my favorite out of the five. Customs alone would still make it my favorite. Who knows, Halo 4 can probably be good too.
Stevo: Why? Why what? I'm the one asking questions here, Mocha! And finally, one question for our next Spotlightee please...
Mocha: If you became a walrus, what would you do and why?
Stevo: o.O
He's a bad kid, ain't he? All this rebellious activity - Forging mini-games and such. Pfff!
I'm off to go wash my cup out, catch you Latté!
