TGIF 33: Recaps

berb's recap

Well guys, I definitely had one of my best ever TGIF lobbies last Friday. Even though there were only two lobbies going on (Pino and Tutui merged), I think we managed to accommodate all of the boys and girls who signed up.

I began my lobby at the appropriate start time (6:30 EST) with a fairly large group of people, some eager to play in their first ForgeHub TGIF lobby. Because we had such a massive amount of people, I opted not to start with my traditional game on Hogs from Heck, but with a game of Cat n' Mouse (a game more 16-player friendly). We had an enjoyable time playing the large vehicle based minigame even though some brief lag spikes had put extreme pressure on the wraith spawning mechanics. As usual, we got a last man situation where fifteen wraiths are pushing against one ghost, somehow finding a state of force equilibrium where the ghost man cannot be harmed and survive for the rest of the round. For some, it is frustrating whereas for most of the players it is a ultra lulzy moment.

Some nonsense on Cat n' Mouse

Up next, as requested by FrozenGoathead, was Darth Human's new Stealin' Yo Flags-esque map called Nom Nom. After some derp moments trying to get it to load up, the sticky flagfest began. Essentially, one must drive their mongoose to the other end of the grenade gauntlet, pick up a colored piece of cloth, and ride home unscathed. Though it sounds easy, sharing the road with seven companions and all of the plasma Halo has to offer can be prove to fairly difficult. Allow to visually demonstrate below:

Berb the boss ridin' through the fire and the flags

And so the shenanigans continued from stockpile over to infection. Because the lobby was too large for standard infection maps (13 players) I choose to play a TGIF staple, L4D. Now I know everyone reading this has probably played this map because it is so popular amongst the community. However, a certain Schnitzel was still surprised when he discovered that if you wait at the top of the ladder and camp, the horde will be upon you from all sides. It was this scenario that led him to his downfall in the second round of play. Unfortunately for the people who played as humans, no survivors made it to the safe room and held off to the end unlike the time before when two parties of humans reached the end.

Once again Berb the boss does something awesome. This time at Schnitzel's expense

As I had promised the lads from last week, this TGIF would be a competitive-orientated one compared to TGIF 32 where I played mostly minigames. So, after I had provided the children with their daily fix of casual games for an hour, I could move onward to bigger and better things. Bigger, in one word perfectly describes the map I had first in line for the competitive playlist. Tyrant, by MrSaddo, was that big map. We appropriately played a game of BTB muti-flag.

Berb the b... Nope, i'm not in this pic. It's just some cool explosions

Next in the playlist was another one of my CTF favorites. Metropolis, by MockKnizzle008, plays some great One-Flag games. The map takes a lot from the urban Halo 2 legend Headlong, possibly the greatest one sided objective map from a Halo game. I'll keep my opinions on the should-be BTB winner of BoF to myself...

A sudden death game-winning flag cap on Metropolis

Not long after playing Metropolis, we played a game on Mock's new map Port Authority, which is still in testing. I must say, it's pretty damn good.

When the party was coming to an end and I was getting increasingly tired, I decided to do something insane. This insane action was to play a game of 14 player FFA slayer on Spire. Not only that, but I changed the weapon loadouts to only give plasma pistols and spikers as weapons, swords and hammers as pickups on the map, and only air vehicles. As I had successfully predicted, I managed to shrink the lobby down four players in size, allowing FlyingShoeILR to do a TG test. BTW Shoe, gratz again on the loyal!

Some other things we played were:

Thanks to everyone who came by; Pino and Tutui, my fellow hosts, and Pega for sorting out all of the stuff. You guys are great!

Tutui's recap

Lets Gooooooooooo!

In the pre-lobby (where everyone sits around waiting for me to finish sending out invites), guy named gtho49 comes in during me talking in russian accent. He immidiatly spazzes out and starts going on how racist I am and how russians are awsome and stuff like that. Needless to say, I muted him, booted him. Thought that it was over and done. Nope. He sends like 30 hate PMs at me, all because I talk russian accent. So I calmly block communications with him, and then he gets on ANOTHER ACCOUNT AND STARTS SPAMMING ME AGAIN. Dude was a maniac! I was just going to get off when I noticed it was time to officially start the lobby. LE SIGH.

The official lobby was amazing. We started, as usual, with small-type minigames like crash-up derby and Speed. We quickly grew to a party of 16, so I decided to do my first of 3 releases that night- Fegelbunker.

Now this is an infection map that I have just completed, an I will post it in the next week or so. Anyway, we had a very interesting game on it. It was basically boring for the first 2 minutes. The metaphorical calm before the storm. Then the tank spawned, and buddy zombie got, I dont know, 12 kills? You honestly never get two of the same games on this map. It deffinatly should have a place in all TGIF lobbies.
Though it kinda sucks to be killed by a single glitched AR bullet, as this laggy buddy here whined about for so long.

After that, we had a go at Road work Ahead by Ducain23, the winner of the race competition. It really is a nice, clean race map.

But, this turn is a bitch...

Yeah, thats me in the 'splosion. and buddy over to the right about to fall in the gap...

After the race, we had a bit of a FWOT marathon, (by request of pinokio, who was in the lobby most of the time) in which we played most of the FWOT maps that exist so far, with the exceptioons of Breakpoint and Embarcadero.

Let the record state that we played comms array, though it was a really dull game, considering one of the top medals was a highjack... Le sigh... Will be postin this map in the week as well, so hang tight.

After that, we played a game that is growing to be my favorite game of all games. Left 4 Dead. With an average of 60 kills a game, I pride myself in getting the most rediculous top score each and every single game, and last friday was no different. Only 72 this time, but I promise to post my score each recap from now on.

How to properly kill as a zombie.

Stab him in the face.

Things died down a little bit after left 4 dead, so I lowered the zombie cound and played Fegelbunker again. Recognize this pose?

So it was getting late, and I was about to go to sleep, but a massive infux of people came out for one last game On battleship VS Carrier 2.0. This version features an armory and Gauss hogs which are free to drive around on the deck of the Carrier. People did find a mistake I made on the map though. I accidentally left a colluseum wal underwater, so when I was flying a falcon real low, I hit it, stopped, and got blown up. Fun. Again, this map will be posted sometime this week.

So thats about it, Hope you guys enjoyed, and gtho, if your reading this, that means you are dead. See y'all next week!
