2v2 Throwdown Round 9 (LB Only)

The term 'Loser Bracket 'doesn't seem to hold as much water at this stage, being that there are only 8 teams left in said bracket and each has not only fought out of their initial group but also survived the first round of the Championship Loser Bracket to get here. Still, lose they did and in the Loser Bracket they shall remain. Unless, that is, one team continues their run all the way to the finals. With only 6 Rounds to go, the end is in sight for these Sunday warriors, much as their path looks tough, the power of momentum is a powerful tool indeed. If you're somehow not familiar with proceedings by now, here's what you should be doing if you have a match this week:

  • Matches for Round 9 have now been posted in the Championship Loser Bracket Board.

  • If you were in the Winners Bracket during Round 8 and won your match, you continue in the Winners Bracket and don't have to play in Round 9.

  • If you were in the Winners Bracket during Round 8 and lost your match, you move down to the Losers Bracket for your Round 9 match.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 8 and won your match, you continue in the Losers Bracket.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 8 and lost your match, you have been eliminated from the tournament.

  • You must organise your match in your designated match thread, the proper process for which is detailed in the thread. Remember, matches are best of 3 games, all of which must use the official Throwdown gametype on the specified map for the respective round.

  • Matches must be played and the results posted (with Bungie.net game link as proof) by Midnight EST on Sunday the 9th of October.

As always, we would like to emphasise how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 9, which are the same as they were for Round 8:

Round 10/11 map - Acacia

The second of five maps to be used in the Championship Bracket, Zombievillan's Acacia counterpoints Cadence's long lines of sight with a focus on two more open opposing areas; one housing the Sniper Rifle and the other a Rocket Launcher. The central dividing corridor can prove a strong vantage point if you actually manage to get there with some power weapons, this is also true of top Sniper, though both can leave you somewhat wanting for a quick escape as a price for their services. The Rocket spawn can be incredibly useful for a quick bit of cover, though doesn't offer nearly the same benefits as the other two central positions. Be sure to maintain control over this area, but don't expect as much mileage here for setups.

http://www.astrogaming.com/With The Beta Hopper for the classic gametypes coming out tomorrow we know it's going to be hard to stay focused and practice on Acacia for the coming two rounds, but we suggest you find both the time and strength to tear yourself away from the 85% and Zero Bloom gametypes and keep your eyes squarely on the the prize at the end of the tunnel. Did we also mention that the 2nd place team each get a copy of CE Anniversary, so your sacrifice now could well pay dividends when the real thing rolls around in November. Stay focused and as always, good luck!
