Good morning, afternoon, evening, or night; depending on what time of day it may be for you at this very moment! We'll be going on quite the adventure this time around, and a mountainous one at that. Discussion of new and modified ranks (again), new faces to fill those familiar places (again), our staples: the Review Hub; Tester's Guild; and Customs Lobby (again), and of course our very own 2v2 Throwdown Competition (again). But if that doesn't intrigue you enough, we'll get to the Question of the Site Update near the end, which is seemingly the only thing as of late worth commenting about.

Welcome to the Site Update.

Skismy

In case you haven't noticed, six letters floating around the Hub have changed their hue. Whether it be through some crazy magic, bribery, extortion, clever trickery, or otherwise, I'm not entirely sure, Regardless, be sure to congratulate Skisma on his recent promotion to the Journalist rank. He's managed to word-fluff his way into some shiny new red shoes. Be on the lookout for front paged articles such as his recent Forge Hub Favorites article from just a week ago.[/l-col][r-col]

Cadeface

As I sat down tonight to begin my trek through writing the site update, I clicked on that ever-so-handy help-box on the left hand side of your screen (unless of course you have decided that you are in fact not a robot), redirected my browser to our ranks page to see if any shifty member related activity has went underway without my knowledge. And it has, as it turns out. Mister Reflex Ion managed to snag himself a brand new rank: Community Manager! What exactly does this rank entail? ... I myself am not currently the one to ask. I believe they're still divvying the tasks behind a super secret veil of anonymity, more on this soon! Regardless be sure to congratulate the fella![/r-col]

In Case You've Forgotton

Next on the agenda is a quick review of our forum rules. Our rules here on ForgeHub ensure that the community runs smoothly; keeping peace throughout the handful of forums. Are you already familiar with them? Are you sure? It doesn't hurt to check if anything has changed since the last time you read them! It looks like the most recent update of our rules was August 6th, so if you haven't read them over since then, it is suggested. A snippet:

General Rules

  2. Behave respectfully towards other individuals or groups. This precludes:

    1. Insulting language

    2. Flaming

    3. Harrassment

    5. Explicitly rating or reviewing a map without downloading it

For the other portions of the rules, you can click the link in the header of every page, the help box on the left, or below, for your convenience.

The Review Hub

Just what is the Review Hub? What do the guild members within the Hub do? I am confuse!

The Review Hub is a corner of our community in which dedicated members take (completed) community maps and put them through scrutiny filled gaming sessions with one purpose in mind: to review. The Review Hub continually works overtime in attempt to catch up on all of the map review requests that have poured in lately, competitive, casual, and minigame alike. Unfortunately, for that reason alone, they're not accepting requests. Give 'em a break, these are thorough reviews, and have you seen how many requests they've had? This isn't easy work.

CloneBall : 7.5/10 - That Scorch Guy
Affliction : 2.3/10 - PacMonster1

They are, if you haven't heard, looking for help! Do you enjoy playing Halo, enjoy giving honest feedback; regardless of which spectrum, good or bad, it falls within? Head over to the Review Hub and start helping out! Be wary though, these are professionally written reviews, good grammar, sentence structure and maturity is a must. Become a regular and you may earn yourself some blue.

If you ever have any suggestions about ways to improve the Review Hub, feel free to send it to either Organite or Tedium via Private Message.

The Tester's Guild

If the Review Hub were Yin, the Tester's Guild would be Yang. They go hand in hand; they keep each other company on those dark, stormy nights; they give each other their last pressed dollar bill when the vending machine won't accept their crumply Washington; they do trust falls from fourth floor windows over pools of lava; they go hand in hand.

So, the Tester's Guild, what do they do? They take your incomplete, beta-phased maps, and give you input about how to improve them before their final release. Great at general map design, but not at weapon placement? Have a decent grasp in flow but not so much in player movement theories? The Tester's Guild is THE place for you to get excellent opinions on just what works and just what doesn't. They'll take your map and provide detailed feedback to ensure you get the best results you can upon release! Who knows, with their help you may be able to get it featured!

And wouldn't you know it, the Tester's Guild is always looking for help as well Want to join the Tester's Guild? We encourage it! They are known to reward hard work Handsomely.

The Best is yet to Come, and Babe, Won't it be Fine.

http://www.astrogaming.com/Over the past few months we've seen teams fight it out with their eyes on the prize. Teams have been reduced to tears, teams have risen to the top, or sunken to the bottom, teams (my team) run around randomly hoping to somehow get a single shot in before their (my) demise, while others have so much coordination it's frustrating. Whether you're in the winner's bracket or the losers bracket at this point in the game does not change the fact that our 2v2 Throwdown competition is going strong.

Loser's Bracket Round Seven is underway and you have until 12am, Midnight, EST TONIGHT to get your games in!

As always, we would like to emphasise how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 7, which are the same as they were for Round 6:

As Promised: QotSU!

[l-col]Last week I asked:

I would LOVE to know just what your favorite non traditional sport is. Of course, you can choose (or make up) non traditional sports that are not listed here, go crazy! :D

[/l-col]

[r-col]To which SkaterPriest replied with something that we've all done at some point:

Unusual sports....Trolling Stevo.

Nuff said.

[/r-col]Although ChronoTempest had quite the interesting response as well:

I can hurl tennis rackets with deadly accuracy. ...

Question: If you could make a strange new law, what would it be?
Some examples:

  • In Michigan it is illegal for a woman to get her hair cut without consent of her husband

  • In Illinois you must contact the police before entering the state in an automobile.

  • In Tennessee more than 8 women may not live in the same house because that would constitute a brothel.

So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Adieu

I leave and heave a sigh and say goodbye -- Goodbye!

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
