2v2 Throwdown Round 7 (LB Only)

This is it: one more round and the Group Stages of the 2v2 Throwdown are well and truly over. After Round 7, the remaining 8 teams in the Winners Bracket and the 8 teams in the Losers Bracket will be put in to the final stage of the competition; the Championship Bracket. Those of you who've fought to maintain your spot in the Winners Bracket thus far have a week until having to meet up with the best that opposing groups have to offer, but Loser Bracket teams will once again have to slog it out for another round to avoid falling just short of the Championship Bracket and at least a Top 16 placing. Speaking of the Loser Bracket and Round 7, here's how it'll all go down:

  • Matches have now been posted in the Bracket Boards. Your group remains the same as in previous rounds.

  • If you were in the Winners Bracket during Round 6 and won your match, you continue in the Winners Bracket and don't have to play in Round 7.

  • If you were in the Winners Bracket during Round 6 and lost your match, you move down to the Losers Bracket.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 6 and won your match, you continue in the Losers Bracket.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 6 and lost your match, you have been eliminated from the tournament.

  • You must organise your match in your designated match thread, the proper process for which is detailed in the thread. Remember, matches are best of 3 games, all of which must use the official Throwdown gametype on the specified map for the respective round.

  • Matches must be played and the results posted (with Bungie.net game link as proof) by Midnight EST on Sunday the 25th of September.

As always, we would like to emphasise how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 7, which are the same as they were for Round 6:

Round 8/9 map - Cadence

Rounds 8 and 9 will bring you in to the dark, atmospheric confines of Reflex lon's Halo: Reach magnum opus, Cadence. A year in the making, this map takes full advantage of a design principle that has proven successful as far back as Halo CE's and the fan favourite Longest; long lines of sight can be your best friend if treated with the proper care. Countering the strong end to end flow are a collection of striking perpendicular paths, the most frequently contested of which houses an Armor Lock pickup. This Journalist is the first to clench right up when AL is even mentioned, but its use as a pickup, a choice which has still strangely eluded the Matchmaking powers that be, leaves even me happy with the results. Get practicing!

http://www.astrogaming.com/Whether it's another week playing on Voodoo in the Loser Bracket or a long stretch of practice on Cadence, if you can last out this week you'll be able to shrug off the Group Stages and partake in the mad dash to the finish line and, ultimately, shiny prizes. Round 8 will see things get a lot tougher on all the remaining teams, as every set of opponents they face from now on will have fought their way through an entire group, be that in the Winners Bracket of the Losers Bracket, to secure their spot in that match. However, don't let that fool you in to overlooking your Round 7 match, should you be playing in the Losers Bracket that is, and risk falling short of that stage altogether. Keep your heads in the game, keep your eyes on the prize and as always, good luck!
