"Summertime when the livin's easy.." seems to the be the soundtrack to my life these days. Sipping pina coladas on the white, sandy beaches with the blue tropical waves crashing into the shores, not having to kill myself within the confines of that prison concocted by the educational system, and, of course, logging many, many hours in Reach custom lobbies. I know I'm not the only one.
So once again, this is our hump-day scheduled article regarding TGIF 16 which was last Friday's game night. I know all the big ballers were back to throw down once again, and I'm sure some new faces jumped in. They party hardy (oh god I hate when people say that), and they did it Rebecca Black and Katy Perry style.
Berb:
Well, where do I start…
Ok, so I probably could say that my 6th TGIF last Friday was definitely my best one yet. I started off with about 6-8 people playing some Sunday Driver: my new ‘TGIF opening game’. The guys were getting pretty excited so I rolled onward with the Darth Humanä mini-games. Next up was Rent-a-Car, where we got some lag in the first round after the lobby getting completely filled in 20 seconds. Yes, we played 16 player Crash-up Derby! Don’t worry, I know you’re jealous. Anyway, we played a few more mini-games before getting in to the more hardcore stuff.
So CTF and Invasion it was, we started the big team with a CTF game on Tyrant, which is a map I personally quite like. After this, I honestly cannot remember what happened, I was probably in the euphoric trance of the lobby I had and the awesome maps that we played such as:
- Cargo Port by Mr. Duck who has lost his mind(btw bro you are paying me 20$ Cdn for this) and a Kestrel named Matthew
- Some map by an Evil Mr Fetus (I know it should be Foetus). I think we just tested the map. Btw if you have time ask MockKnizzle about my awesome wraith marksmanship on this map.
- First Tracks by An Airborne Shoe. Unfortunately, he had to go just before we played it so he didn’t see the awesome.
- Metropolis by MockKnizzle. The map is in its testing stages. Just letting you guy who were on blue team know, you only won 1-0 cuz the game glitched and it duplicated our flag.
- Pipeline by Berb. Whoever he is his map needed a couple fixes but overall the test was pretty good.
- Summit by MetaWaddleDee. I must say the bridge was really well done and everyone enjoyed the “DIVE” sign.
- and last but not least Apollo by DUCK NG. This man patiently waited 4 hours so we could have enough people (12) to test. I actually couldn’t get people to stay out of the lobby, so we had 16 pretty much until the end.
16 player crash-up. i know you're still jealous
mosh pit on cargo port.
all this death for a piece of fabric...
yours truly stealth ninja assassinating some guy, his friend must take the shot...
some CTF gameplay on my new map, Pipeline
And after all that awesome, I ended my TGIF to peacefully pwn noobs in Arena and enjoy TGIF to its fullest, playing in another hosts lobby. I know his recap must be around here somewhere so you should probs check it out.

Plasma Blades:
Despite some initial delays, this TGIF went off without a hitch (for those who don't know, I lost power which pushed the start time back a few hours). Aside from starting around 10:30, the party filled up completely in under two minutes, and, even better, never sunk below a count of about 13 players. We began rather simply with some Crash-up Derby, but soon moved onto some infection and mini-games such as The Streets and Avalanche.
Once the supply of such maps dwindled, more tactical games were chosen, such as Yahtzee Yahoo, The Generators, and Bee Bashers. Testing was done on a couple of unreleased map, and hopefully it provided the creators with pertinent information that will allow the architects to transform their masterpieces into resplendent creations within the community. But enough reading; onto the images. After all, that's what 90 percent of you will skim to, right? Of course.
One grenade. Seventeen assault rifle shots. One Killtrocity.
"As tempting as it looks, you probably shouldn't drive into the pit of spikes and landmines."
"So I throw my hands up, they're playin' my song; The butterflies fly away..."
"I love the sound a girl makes when you hit her!"
"Double street cone, all the way, across the sky."

Recap:
My TGIF party started out on time surprisingly. I had to move the part back an hour as I had a school function to attend, but once I got home I hopped straight online. My fellow host Pinohkio was starting a party and so I decided to join him. Together our parties were small and held little fun. However, together we forged a might party of 16 players whose passion for TGIF fun was beyond any I had seen before. We played a bunch of mini-games and we passed the host around the whole night. We tested some maps, played some mini-games and had an overall great time. The party eventually broke up when the session began to die down, but not before good old Black Theorem joined. We tested his friend’s map until I disconnected and began to play Call of Duty. However at Theorem’s urging, I came back to Reach so he could show me some other insane aesthetic maps by own recent featured forger, Zatherla. Myself and a few other people resumed our TGIF party, but in a less formal and more joking / friends playing customs /throwing ideas around sort of way. Overall the party lasted a lot longer than I imagined and we had a blast! Special thanks to Prodigious 7K, IAwkwardsilence and Black Theorem for contributing some awesome maps and great times and Pinokio for lettign me crash his party, so to speak!
We had a little after-party on Black Ops (well, Pinohkio and I did) seeing as it was Double EXP and Nuketown 24/7 weekend. Over our time on the game from Friday to Sunday (spanning playtime of well over 30 hours), we had many people joining our party and having some fun with us. This shows that it isn’t just Halo that brings us together, but simply a love for gaming and good people. Thanks to everyone who played and laugh with us the entire weekend. It was great fun and I’ll remember it for a while!
Pictures:
The Minotaur, surprisingly less deadly than the ghosts...still deadly though.
What happens when your the party leader and you are the last man standing in Plasma Rain. They were good.
Thought this picture was awesome looking, they got me on the gun the next time... those begrudging little TGIF participants.

Containment
A 3-part minigame (Look for it soon!)
A tower-defense-like invasion game (Also coming soon)I think we had a pretty good time, side from all of the blackscreen. Sharp joined in and took over when I left, and we had a blast playing all sorts of games. With some testing thrown into the mix, such as a unique minigame concept, and a wacky invasion minigame.
Unfortunately neither of those can be put in the recap, because neither is released And because I was going to do a video recap (before my PVR had problems), I only have two pictures.
Speaking of Pictures:
We played some flag
And then we played more flag.
I hope you all enjoyed the recap. I'd like to thank all the hosts that made this article possible. If you'd like to host a TGIF or contribute to a host's recap, check out the next Site Update for information.
