TGIF 12: Recap

Once again, I'm here to present to the TGIF recap that drops by every other week. I got some pretty cool stuff this time. These kids partied it up almost as hard as I partied it up from my school's prom this weekend. But those summaries are for the school gossip, and those embarrassing pics are for facebook. So, moving on, here are the recaps for TGIF 12 which took place on April 15th, 2011.

First off, a small recap by our friend Psychoduck who didn't actually host, but he decided he wanted to contribute, so:

Tonight I spent a brief period in The Berb 9's TGIF lobby and had lots of fun playing a few different maps. Later, I got myself a 12 player lobby going, and it quickly became an unofficial TGIF. Berb even joined us later on. We played everything from Toadz in the Hole and Tetris to all manner of competitive 6v6 games. We tested out several maps including my own upcoming Illium, along with TrivialProdigy's Timberland. Thanks to everyone who participated in this impromtu TGIF! I'm sure Berb has more to talk about.

Well my TGIF started when I joined the other hosts parties at around 4EST. I got to download a few awesome maps that i missed. But officially started my party when I took over for Cryptokid when his party officially ended. We picked up with some Cat N Mouse right away because its a personal favorite of mine.A player by the name of Xaukael ran a clinic on the Cats winning two round and always finishing top 3. He only has 20 post so make him feel welcome.
Later in the night after an overwhelming large request for Crash Up Derby we played a full 16 man game which to say the least was very hectic. Mixed that with some aggressive Supercross on Cordova SX. We kept going with vehicle based for awhile and played some awesome maps that Darth Human is releasing soon.
At one point we tried taking a group picture on Chipsinabox's Sapphire map but the plasma launcher proved much too awesome to not shut them... right away... at me. Nearing the end of the night my good buddies CO Boarders and XxVikingxx came in with two very awesome games from the Internets. Assassins Creed and Hot Pursuit... although they are not on any forging website these two map are awesome and you should search the Internets for them :P.

Overall we all played alot of new minigames alot of old school ones. Next TGIF will be the greatest TGIF ever.

The Berb 9:

Last Friday, I hosted my second ever TGIF lobby. I must say that things didn’t really go to plan. This was because no one could be bothered to show up. I got about five or six or people after sending out invites to fifteen. After managing to round up some friends of the members, we started up some small minigames like Tetris which I dominate at) and Avalanche. After having about nine or ten people, I put on the Left4Dead:No Hope where the people in the party saw some funny stuff. As I recall, everyone was infected BUT three kids who had joined in late who had not spawned yet. When they spawned, the new members had mixed emotions of fear and confusion as they witnessed nine teabagging zombies ready to pounce.

Due to a shortage in party members, I had to skip the Big Team/Invasion segment and move right onto testing maps. Here we gave some members the opportunity to see what people thing and to get some constructive criticism. After testing for a while, the amount of people in my party dwindled until it came to four. Unexpectedly I later managed to get myself into the ‘unofficial’ TGIF party hosted by The Psycho Duck. This was very, very fun and once again I was given the chance to show my ultimate Tetris Prowess.

Now for some lovely pictures

my favorite part of the night. my revenant in Tetris that got a kiltrocity.

Organite:

My TGIF party started off small but got going extraordinarily quick.
After mass inviting people during a game of Avalanche (which was played rather frequently) my party never stayed below 16 individuals probably making last weeks TGIF party my most successful, entertaining, and laggy party ever.

As I said we kicked things off with a few mini games mostly consisting of Avalanche by Darth Human and Labyrinth of the Destructaur by Buddhacrane which proved to be relatively popular amongst the group and were played pretty consistently throughout the night.

As the night tore on, people started to crave a more competitive environment so we threw in a few Invasion maps to tussle with. Three or four were played but Summit by Metawaddledee and Fallout by Organite were the most enjoyed.

That wasn't enough though. Players still craved a more pure Halo experience and considering our numbers I threw in some Big Team Battle maps. One of my personal favorites being Warhorse by Titmar and a yet unnamed, unposted map by ThrowinDemBows.

By the end of the night and about where I decided to call it quits, we topped everything off with some maps recommended to me within the party, and some classic Infection maps. Rifte Gifle's Reach rendition of The Sewers was probably the most favored map of the night and was indeed a great game to go out on.

This weeks started off a little slow compared to others. I don't know if that's because most of the regulars were offline, or if people are losing interest, but when Cryptokid joined in, it really picked up. Some of the games included Datahive, Stealin' your flags ( I know I have to stop linking that, but it's too damn fun!), and some silly game called Nascar that Crypto suggested, which was really a lot more fun than it sounds.

Unfortunately, my folder with all of my film clips from that night got mistakenly deleted when I was cleaning up my laptop, I do have this YouTube - TGIF Invasion But it's terrible quality, and it was mostly used as reference to check some angles. However, since it was the only clip that wasn't in the folder, it's the one we get. I promise to get a better one next time, because I don't have to clean the desktop up anymore. Sorry for that guys.

Cryptokid:

So this TGIF was awesome, I hosted for the entire 8 hours and after I left, Vice took over and he went another few hours after that! This is one of the longest parties I have ever hosted which I would say is a fitting last game before my faithful xbox's last game. (I got E 74 the next day but I should be able to host next week ;) ) We had 16 people for a really long time and it never dropped below 10. No complainers and an overall great game.

We played a good ol' game of Cawk Blockin' which some people had trouble understanding the first round. After a while we had some pretty good teamwork going though and we came together for a few good rounds. We played a couple games of one of my all time favorite game types, Cat n' Mouse and this one crazy guy named Xaukael destroyed for a few rounds. As Vice said at one point: "You win TGIF, sir." But now, a challenger approaches up against Cat n' Mouse and he goes by the name of Crash Up Derby. Seriously, this game is crazy fun, I never get complaints with this one. I really recommend playing it withal bunch of people.

And that wraps up my party recap. Sorry for no screens, but like I said, my xbox died. If anyone has any screens from my party and would like to PM them to Scope, please do so. Join me next week for my final party as a regular member!
