TGIF 11: Recap

What a wonderful time of the year! Spring time is all around us, and it's much more lax the cold, harsh winter months. So there might not be a better time to take easy, sit back, relax, or maybe play some customs.

That's what some people had in mind last Friday, April 1st. These parties were no joke though. TGIF 11 had a substantial amount hosts compared to recent weeks. I heard that Friday's customs night was a rather fun one, so I've rounded up the hosts so that they can tell you about their fun. If you were there, you should feel special, very special. If you were not, you should be jealous, very jealous.

The Berb 9:

My first ever time hosting a TGIF lobby went really and exactly to plan. I started off at 5:30 with six people and a game of Cawk Blawkin’. By the end of the game, we had fourteen people and five rolling people trapped in a corner by pesky zombies. Next we moved onwards to a game of Double Rainbow on All The Way seeing as I had fourteen people. After spending five minutes try to organize people into teams of two we initiated the screaming frenzy of mongoose tornadoes, the defiance of physics and the bending of reality itself. For the next half hour we finished up my minigames segment with some Stealin Your Flags and the Left4Dead: No Hope campaign.

We started off the Invasion and big Team segment with my personal favourite: The Hushed Apprentice. It is here the party witnessed the glorious spectacle of one mongoose, three elites, and thirty seconds of ridin’ dirty. Shortly following, we rocked some Unbroken Sovereignity and a wonderful new map called Data Hive. The party had began to die down, two and a half hours after starting we had lost a couple of brave soldiers. I thought that now was the time to start my third segment of the schedule.

And so, on the third hour, the first tested map was loaded up. Even though not all the maps were like by the party, I made sure we played a whole game and commented on the maps in a constructive manner. Essentially, the map testing was very brief with us only testing around five maps. With everyone satisfied and only nine people left, we decided to go and play a couple games of matchmaking so that everyone had the daily challenges. What we did to make sure everyone had all the daily challenges will remain confidential.

After approaching the five hour mark, I officially ended my TGIF party. I would like to thank all those boys who stayed through the night to party hard; you know who you are. It was a pleasure to play with you.

pinohkio:

My party definitely went a lot better this time then any other. The party went on well after I had to go and I believe that most of if not all of my fellow big team battlers had a blast. There was 5 (I think) flag games, which were all really intense, a couple of slayer games (also pretty intense) and some good old fashion Minigames (The highlight of the party).

Containment made another appearance, although with slayer, not flag. It was still one of my favourites though. Stealin' your flags was another hit of the party, as well as Club Guido Juice (Cawk Blawkin'). Invasion was unfortunately not in the playlist this week, which kind of had me disappointed, but with more room for minigames like Double Rainbow I'd say it was forgiven.

Oh yeah! We also had two french players join us, thanks goes out to l Soren l and FrenchAttacking for making this possible the most cultural TGIF night yet!

He's got some other stuff too:

There was some of this

And a whole lot of this

Darth Human:

Our TGIF was great, it started 2 hours early and had 12-16 players for a good 3 hours. I was able to do some final tests of my new map Avalanche. Most people thought it was definitely the highlight of the night.

I played a wide variety of objective based games along with some occasional mini games. Everyone was very commutative compared to the other lobbies I have had over the week. The best game we had was when we had a full 16 lobby and played Crash-Up Derby, no one left, and no one could join. Everyone had something to say that game, very chaotic, and I got to meet some very good drivers haha.

Near the end of our party, Vice came in. We played a slayer headshot only sniper game on a small free-for-all map, it was crazy. Vice was pretty good at no-scoping I have to admit. Then we played some more avalanche. Vice took leader and played some more mini games. Then I left and Vice took over for the night. Overall, my TGIF lobby (and Vice's) had a great time.

Cryptokid:

So my party started out kind of bad. I went to Halo 3 with high spirits, but it quickly became apparent that besides one person, no one was coming. I decided to switch to Halo Reach. I met up with Vice and we co-hosted a great party that made it worth going to reach. I haven't had this many fun games in a long time.

To start we played some of vice's new mongoose games. Actually, a ton of the games we played were vehicle based which is one of the reasons I had so much fun :D. We played Blast-0ff!!! V2 by M4XWELLSM4RT, that was a unique one. Another fun one was Toy Factory (Tetris) by Darth Human. Many other really great games were played, and we hope to even more of you next time, sorry for those who didn't get in!

Ahhh!

Me jumping a wraith on Vice's new Cat N' Mouse map.

Uh-Oh!

This was honestly one of the funnest games we played all night. I would have linked it but I couldn't find it. Nascar on Speed I believe was the name.
