TGIF 8: Recap

Feast your eyes on this new delicacy served up fresh on the front page. But I'd be lying if I told you this was new. Many of you FH vets will remember this from back in the day. It's a classic sort of like... well like TGIF. However, some of you may be stumped. Well, let me tell you about it from my tree of knowledge.

So what exactly is a TGIF Recap? The concept is quite easy to understand. As many of you know, TGIF (Thank Goodness It's Friday) is a biweekly customs night where anyone can join the hosts that are listed in the sign-up thread. These parties are often quite fun and can sometimes tell interesting stories. These recaps are an effort to capture the best moments of a cycle's TGIF as well as give a summary of what went down.

You can look at these articles in hopes of reading about something that you took part in, to see what everyone else did, to see what you missed out on, or to just enjoy the read. Hopefully, each recap will have an abundance of content such as summaries written by the hosts themselves and pictures/videos from the matches.

This is really cool for hosts because what they make goes on the front page. If you're an aspiring writer, write a good story about your party, but don't make it too lengthy! Exhibit your pictures and video skills via the game's theater mode. Or maybe you just want to show everyone how fun your party is.

So without much more discussion, let's take a look at last week's Friday. Not much content is in this article due to short notice on the staff's part. Nevertheless, you should be able to enjoy the following recap of TGIF #8 which ran February 18th, 2011.

TGIF #8 Host Recaps

pinohkio:

"My first TGIF party as host started out pretty dull, it was just myself, and three other people. Things soon picked up and eventually we grew to a full party of 16, and to my pleasure stayed that way for most of the night. Unfortunately, it had to be cut short -- as some players (who shall remain unnamed) started betraying, and generally ruining the atmosphere I had attempted to create, and keep long into the night -- and I refused to go back on my idea of an open party, next time rules will differ.

We played a lot of big team games, as I planned; and had quite a few rounds of Stealing your Flags. Overall it was a blast, and I thank everybody who joined in and stayed throughout (mainly The Berb 9, and Boomerdude)"

SargeantSarcasm:

"My TGIF party went swimmingly, which was a far cry from the connection troubles that plagued the last iteration and caused me to all but cancel until I found a solution two hours later. Rather, this time (despite starting several hours sooner than advertised) everyone showed up, party connections were amenable and fun was had.

I thoroughly enjoyed every map we tested, which I would detail but they haven't been released yet. The only real downside of the party was an infection-oriented game on a cesspool map, but that was admittedly a concept test and the author was quick to rebuke his own creation. Other than that it went very well and I look forward to the next TGIF."
Due to some lateness in the notifications of the recaps, the pictures provided are of the maps themselves, not of the actual games. This is to show you how other recaps will be. Thanks to pinohkio for the pics.

I hope you all enjoyed the recap. This was just a taste of what's in store. A huge thanks to all the hosts that made this article possible.
