Greetings! Are you a magnificent memory-maintaining member or, quite simply, a forgetful forumite? Either way you will want to ready your recollective retention unit for the sequel to our notoriously nostalgic forgotten treasures contest from Halo 3!
Forge Hub is proud to present the Halo: Reach launch contest, a remake contest for Halo maps from the previous three games. With all the buzz about bringing back classics, paired with the endless capabilities of Forge 2.0 itself, this is the perfect competition to kick off the beginning of a new forging age. So pop in the original xbox and xbox 360 games, study some weapon layouts, and prepare to become a meticulous forger once more.
What does the contest entail?
The contest aims to bring back classic Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 maps with the utmost accuracy. On Forge World, forgers may choose to remake nearly any of their favourite original Halo maps in hopes of creating a realistic rendition, whilst incorporating necessary additions to fine-tune gameplay elements. Maps will be judged on creativity, aesthetic accuracy, and overall gameplay.
What is a remake?
A remake is a classic map, remade to be as close to the original as possible. Good examples are Pinnacle and Reflection. Maps such as Zealot and The Cage do not constitute as remakes. Slight changes are allowed as long as they promote improved gameplay, such as the inclusion of armour abilities, the swapping of a BR for a DMR, or a missing jump.
Contest Rules:
-All map remakes must be created on Forge World
-All maps must be from Halo CE, Halo 2, or Halo 3
-PC exclusive maps are excluded
-Ivory Tower, Ascension, Blood Gulch/Coagulation, and Sanctuary are excluded
-Budget Glitching is NOT allowed
-Maps submissions may be backdated
-All maps must be submitted by October 28th
Remake Specifics:
-Armour Ability inclusion is allowed
-Minor Weapon tweaks that promote improved gameplay are allowed
-Respawn times may be tweaked to improve gameplay.
-Maps will be tested with Halo: Reach Gametypes
Prizes will be announced at a later date.
Maps are to be submitted in the Submission Thread, under the appropriate format.

A: The maps will be judged equally based on overall gameplay and aesthetic accuracy
Q: So are we limited to multiplayer maps? or can we make a story mode map?
A: Yes, just the standard Halo CE, Halo 2, and Halo 3 multiplayer maps + DLC. PC maps, and campaign levels are excluded.
Q: Will the maps be judged as a whole, or will there be winners for each map. Example; of all the "Wizard/Warlock" submissions will there be one winner in that category? Or will each map be judged against all others?
A: The maps will be judged as a whole for the overall winners, but there is room for "special" fun categories like best of each map.
Q: Are we allowed to use FX and/or lighting orbs?
A: Yes, light orbs are ok. I would be careful with the FX though, they tend to make maps look much worse, and harm gameplay.
Q: Is a DMR an acceptable switch for a Halo 2 BR?
A: Yes, this counts as the original layout.
