TGIF #48: Be a Hero! Sign Ups

Jan 21 2010
3K

TGIF #48: Be a Hero! Edition will run on Thursday the 21st of January. That's right folks, we said Thursday. This TGIF has been moved forward by a day to coincide with Bungie's Be a Hero! campaign (full details of which can be found here), a call to the Halo community to show support for victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, which Bungie will match in kind with donations to the support effort. The more players logging online time during today and tomorrow with the correct emblem configuration for their character (which you can find just below this paragraph), the more money Bungie will donate to the Red Cross' efforts in Haiti. This is a great chance to combine a classic Forge Hub customs night with a genuine good cause, so keep a spot free on Thursday for this special TGIF, come sporting the Be a Hero! emblem and show your support!

To configure your emblem correctly, follow these steps:

  • Press START

  • Select “SETTINGS” / “APPEARANCE”

  • Select “EMBLEM”

  • Select “Hearts” ICON, “Circle” BACKGROUND

  • Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select “COLORS”

  • Set “EMBLEM PRIMARY” to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you’re playing!)

  • Set “EMBLEM SECONDARY” to WHITE

Party leaders will start their parties at the appropriate time (check individual schedules for more information). If a party is un-joinable, that means it is full, therefore you do NOT need to send invites or messages to the leader asking to get in. It will not work! We all hope you have a great TGIF - play nice and have fun.

Please note that all TGIF Gamertags have been cleared out - if you've been on them in the past you will have to resend a Friend Request!

  • Sign up by posting your Gamertag in this thread.

  • Send a friend request to any ONE of the following TGIF gamertags over Xbox live: FH TGIF 1, TGIF IV or TGIF V.

  • Each host's motto/bio will say what type of maps they're playing, and how many players are admitted.

    • You gain access to each host via 'Friends of Friends' of the TGIF gamertag you sign up with.

    • Join an available party according to the playstyle you prefer.

  • Get tired of a party and want a change of pace? Leave and join another! All parties will be set to Open, so change parties as you please.

  • Want to play Rocket Race for a few hours? Go ahead! Then when you get bored of it jump ship and join another party for a different style of play!

  • If you need help with time zones, please check out this thread.

Insane54's TGIF of Awesomeness! #48

Host's Gamertag: Insane54
Start Time: 9:00pm EST
End Time: 2am EST
Rules:
For the first ~2 hours:

  • We play between serious and messing around. Feel free to shout and whatever, but not incessantly.

  • Have a mic and be willing to talk. We'll all get to know each other over the 2 hours, and maybe make new friends.

  • No guests. All the room should be for TGIF participants. You're welcome to "hotseat" or switch people on the controller, as long as we're talking to someone.

  • Bad connections will be booted. It's not your fault, but it ruins the fun for everyone. If you fix your connection, I'll do my best to get you back in. The same goes for leaving the game for anything over a couple minutes.

  • Obviously, try your best to show up on time. I feel much of TGIF is meeting each other and becoming acquainted, so I've tried to design my playlist so that new friends will be made. Coming in late interrupts that, so try to be on time if you can. Also, slots have generally been really hard to get past the beginning, so try to be ready early!

  • Feel free to send me a polite message (please don't make it voice or a friend request, my gamertag is Insane54), at any time once the signups go up, and you'll be the first guys to be invited in.

Schedule:
I play a minigame/casual playlist with the occasional fun competitive map thrown in. We'll start with some minigames like Tremors and Cat N Mouse to become acquainted with each other, and then move on to some more team games. At the end, we'll play some higher level games like Clue and Tremor Blast, but overall I like a mixture of fairly new and classic games. Hope to see you there!

After 2 hours in:
After that, we're going to go off on some tangents and try different things. That means possibilities of testing, different kinds of customs, MLG, splitting up, matchmaking, so on and so on. I don't want to restrict myself here and I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun.

Potential games: Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, Halo 3: ODST (Co-Op and Firefight), Left 4 Dead 2, Borderlands, Gears of War 2, Far Cry 2, Operation Flashpoint.

Please not that my mic has been screwing up and I'm not sure how it will go. If it's not working, I may require Skype. I know, it sucks. But it may have to be like that.

Host's Gamertag: RightSideTheory

Mic is required

  • Should we (as a group) decide to, we'll trade up ODST for Halo 3, and drop into matchmaking to try and convince as many people as possible to change their emblem.

  • (I realize MM may not be your idea of a great TGIF, but we have to keep in mind the main point of what we're trying to accomplish here.
