Faceoff 2v2 Championship Results
You may remember that we had a little Forge Hub 2v2 shuffle known as the Faceoff a while back, and we can now finally bring you the much anticipated results and specifics of what exactly went down in the epic final encounter between Bad Kids and Two Magic Hippos. We know, it's been a long time coming, but your patience is about to be rewarded and a couple of mouse scrolls is all it will take to bring you all the knowledge you could possibly hope for with regard to our very own 2v2 Championships. Now, that isn't too much to ask, is it?
Finals
After more than 3 months of intense play, Forge Hub's Faceoff 2v2 tournament has finally found its champions. 8 Groups, 256 teams and 512 competitors began this Faceoff, and 13 rounds later it all came down to this final standoff between Bad Kids and Two Magic Hippos. The 4 finals matches were heated for all concerned, but here's a little more detail on how things went down on our very own finals arena, Slate Creek:
Game 1: Faceoff Slayer
Things started strong for Bad Kids in the first of the 4 matches, and they gained an early lead and dominance of the bridge ground, setting up well to lock down their side of the map. But Two Magic Hippos pulled their team play up to dislodge Bad Kids and secure their own dominating set up, which they largely held on to for the rest of the game. A strong set of coordinated plays from Bad Kids looked as if the tide may turn again, But the Hippos held strong and clinched the final few kills to snare the first game in the series.
Final score: Two Magic Hippos-25, Bad Kid-20
Game 2: Faceoff 2-Flag
Movement around the map was a lot more fast paced in this game, and long standing set ups were few and far between. Both teams kept one another on their toes by shifting between moving as a pair and splitting across multiple routes, high and low. The couple of minutes saw some quick pushes on both sides, none of which managed to secure a clear enough route to get very far since all players were quick to react and pull back to their side when needed. But Two Magic Hippos managed to pull ahead once again, Clutch's first flag cap coming from a swift, deadly push across the map and a well planned return with support from Tragedy. The two players then swapped roles and Clutch took on a solid support strategy, both players working spawns and timings well to secure 2 further captures and nail the second game in the series.
Final score: Two Magic Hippos-3, Bad Kids-0
Game 3: Faceoff King of the Hill
Don't let the seemingly nonchalant red guy here fool you, the KotH game followed the pace of 2-Flag with a bang. Play was fast and focused, the explosion shown above being the second in a pair of artfully placed grenades to take out Bad Kids' hill man from across the map. The game maintained a good degree of back and forth as far as hill time went, but the Hippos kept their positions for longer at a time and managed to pull ahead steadily, upping the ante at the end to score some solid seconds and secure a convincing third victory.
Final Score: Two Magic Hippos-200, Bad Kids-78
Game 4: Faceoff Slayer
The start of this game looked to be a continuation of the Hippos dominating stride, with an early lead for Clutch and Tragedy. But the Bad Kids weren't going down without a putting up a fight. They snagged some brilliant kills, but ultimately, and despite a strong run by TVL Sickness in the closing minutes, the Hippos maintained their team set up and won out, taking the Championship in 4 straight games, and nicely mirroring the Slayer scores to bookend this final playoff.
Final score: Two Magic Hippos-25, Bad Kids-20
3rd Place Playoffs
There was one other match that took place this week, away from the shining lights and public glare of the finals, but equally tense for those involved. Last round, 2 teams were denied their shot at the finals, but the fight for 3rd place was still on, there are prizes at stake after all (more about that below). This match went in similarly straight games, UltimateWin starting strong with a 25-10 victory over Blitz in the first game of Slayer. The objective games continued in UltimateWin's favour with a solid 201-59 final score in the KotH game and a 3-1 victory in 2-Flag. The final game of Slayer saw Blitz showing their colours in a last stand that brought them 20 kills before UltimateWin lived up to their name and clinched that final kill to secure third place.

Thanks to all who participated in the Faceoff, and to those who helped make it a reality. It brought some stunning highs, and some crippling lows, but it really brought our two strengths of Forging and some serious competitive Halo together. We hope you all enjoyed participating or simply following the Faceoff saga, congratulations to those who took home the prizes, and keep your eyes peeled for the next Forge Hub event.
