Far Cry Section Released!

We've added a new section to our forums. this new section includes forums and sub-forums for members to discuss the Far Cry 2 map editor, maps made with it and discuss general topics about the game. A Far Cry 2 themed skin has also been implemented to the site along with the other selectable skins, which can be found at the bottom of the page. This skin, does not affect the banner at the top but that may be updated later.

Far Cry 2 plays much differently than Halo does, so it may not necessarily appeal to everyone on the site, so we will continue to support Halo's Forge editor for those who would still like to use it. The gameplay in Far Cry 2 is similar to the Call of Duty games, so if you're a fan of those, there's a good chance you'll enjoy Far Cry 2 as well. Far Cry's stand out feature is its full fledged map editor; it includes an object editor, similar to forge's. This object editor has hundreds of different objects you can place when creating a map. At your disposal are several more tools that allow the overall quality of user created maps to be much higher, much more in depth and a lot more customizable and unique. You no longer need to glitch just to get enough items on the map to finish it, or to interlock them together.

The map editor in Far Cry 2 also includes more map creation tools in addition to the forge-like object ones. You can create the terrain your map is played on and place real map barriers to keep players inside such as cliffs, death zones, invisible walls, etc. You can then create the natural environment in your map; build jungle, a large desert, or a small valley outside your industrial themed map. There is also a snap shot tool that allows you to take the screenshot players see when selecting the map.

Far Cry 2's map editor provides far more power than what anyone who likes to create maps on a console is used to, and it may even be expanded by donwloadable content. Those who already have played or who already own Far Cry have probably had a chance to see some of the wonderful user created maps aleady publlished. There will likely be some featured maps from Far Cry 2 soon, however as you'd expect, only the great maps will be featured and if they've been posted on our forums, so spread the word; that the Far Cry section here is now available for everyone to see, the more maps posted here, the better the overall quality will be of the possible featured maps and it will help the extra boards to thrive. Also remember that Far Cry 2 and our Far Cry section are just getting started up, don't let the fact that their isn't much activity right now keep you from moving up to Far Cry 2's powerful map editor. Expect the first featured maps to start coming very soon, we will be also adding Far Cry editor tutorials as it can seem really hard to use at first, especially if you haven't forged before either, as well as other Far Cry related things...

Rube Goldberg Winner

Rube Goldberg, the contest where forgers made complex devices in forge that would perform simple tasks. Well, time has flown by and the contest is now over. There were a handful of well forged submissions, but in the end there can only be one winner. The winning map was made by two very innovative forgers who did a over the top job with their map. Those two forgers are Adeylss and Goatnuts420. As promised, these two will receive their very own custom titles and a count towards the two maps needed for Premium rank. Making them one step closer to becoming premium. Win13 is the name of their map; which you can download by clicking it. But feel free to watch the following video to see how it works and what it does.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuYyjPUwqwwThank you to all forgers who submitted their maps. You all did a good job and all your work is truly shown in them. Again, congratulations on our two winners Adeylss and Goatnuts420.

Promotions

Recently we've had some promotions; those include 2 Loyals and a Guardian. For his dedicated work with the testers guild coupled with a mature attitude, Chrstphrbrnnn has been promoted to Loyal Member along with everyone's favourite naked New Zealander; Mastar. As new blood rises among the Loyals, a seasoned veteran dons the purple again. CorduroyCHUCK returns to his former glory and we thank him for all his work as a one of the first batch of Guardians. When we lose a Guardian we gain a new one just like that. Spammers beware as we welcome thesilencebroken to the contrasting mix of colours known as Guardian. Also, in a surprising turn of events, our beloved Iv0rY Snak3 has retired from his former rank as a journalist. We thank him for all the work he's done and wish him the best in his days of retirement. You may have also noticed that, the legendary Tex has hung up his ban hammer and changed to the rank of journalist.
We welcome and congratulate these members on their promotions and hope they enjoy the privileges and responsibilities that come with.

Removal of Reputation

As you've probably noticed, all those green boxes (or possibly red boxes, if you were unfortunate enough) under your name have disappeared. Some may not like this decision for the removal of rep, others may love it, either way it's gone. The staff are currently brainstorming possible replacements for the rep system but do not hold your breath or expect anything substitutes any time soon. Before its removal, all rep handed out lost all weight, making all messages the pale blue. This was the first stage in its imminent removal. This is due to the fact that it was abused and lost its original meaning. It became a popularity contest when it was intended to be used to show your appreciation or distain for a member's post. There's no need to complain or to rally for its return; what's done is done, it is gone for good.

Adios rep.

Forgehub Official Youtube Account

Over past couple weeks, the staff have been working on an official Forgehub youtube channel entitled "ForgehubTheater". We've been working on various videos to be added to it. Right now there are only a few videos uploaded to it but expect plenty more in the near future. Once again, Here is the link to its channel.
