HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Belated, but no less celebrated...

Forge Hub's Birthday

The exact day of Forgehub’s birthday may have gone by without notice but there is no reason to celebrate for only one day. So we the staff would like to thank you all for helping us reach this landmark. We encourage you to take a look at and play all the early maps before the introduction of the Heroic Map Pack. Ingenious games like Cat n Mouse, The Swings & Necro Falls are what brought forging into the spotlight. In 1 year the number and quality of maps have increased exponentially, and with more maps being released by bungie in the coming year we can’t even begin to imagine what is on the horizon from our community of dedicated forgers.

The History of Forge Hub
ForgeHub was launched on the 10th of October 2007 by TrueDarkFusion, and has become the standard in websites dedicated to the broadcasting of creations made using Halo 3's Forge editor. The site focuses on Competitive, MLG, Casual, Racing, Mini-Game and Aesthetic Forged map creations, the best of which are published by the site staff into the Featured Forged maps forum and onto the front page.

Before the switch to vBulletin, members with 100 posts were given access to a Premium forum, along with access to apply to become a Guilder or Mason. To apply, the applicant would link 2-3 Forged maps they've created and considered worthy of being Featured. Guilders focused upon making playable Forged maps, such as ones that you would see in Halo 3's Matchmaking, whilst Masons focused on making Aesthetic Forged maps, such as statues or models of objects. These applications would be viewed by the current Guilders and Masons who would decide upon who to accept based upon both Forging Prowess and General Behavior on the forums. With the update to vBulletin, though, these Guilders and Masons were removed and promoted to either Forum moderator, Journalist or Administrator positions based upon activity and personality. These Guilders and Masons have been replaced by Premium Members; users who have had 2 or more of their Forged Creations featured on the front page.

TGIF #18 - 17th October 2008
Thank God It's Forgeday has been going bi-weekly for some time now, and we are at long last unfortunately in between Fridays for Forge Hub's birthday... Regardless, we are going to hold a TGIF unlike any other. At the start of the night, party's will be going into 8-player forge and crafting the best map they possibly can (we'll see whether order can emerge from chaos on that front!) Afterwards, TGIF will take place as normal, with a few of the oldest maps ever made thrown in for good measure. At some point, each party will play their forge creation and the host will submit the saved film of the game. Finally, we'll all get to see the result of each forge session when the epic recap of the night gets posted. Make sure you take part!

As of its one year anniversary, Forge Hub has accrued over 23,000 members and nearly half a million posts. We've come a long way and achieved alot, yet at the same time we're always looking to improve the site and support the forging community as best we can.

Long live Forge Hub!
