Friday Night Fight!

Presenting ForgeHub's 4th Friday Night Fight! After the second FNF (against the Ghosts of Onyx), we were challenged by the Ducks of Onyx, several very confused people who tend to stay herded together and shooting anything that twitches. The staff had some trouble finding enough available members, but eventually we had enough to get the fight on the road.

The Maps

Team Hammar

Ducks of Onyx

Game 1: Bastion 5 Plots (Territories) on Bastion

The first map was an interesting map made by the admin Shock Theta, in which after about 5 minutes two of the five territories become locked and unable to be captured, making each of the remaining three more contested than ever. But the game didn't last the 5 required minutes, in fact it ended quite quickly. Neither team had much of a real strategy, but after a few minutes Team Hammar had blindly captured all 5 territories, bringing the game to an abrupt end in the Staff's favour.

Results: 5-0 Territories Hammar

Game 2: Hangar CTF on Hangar 02 V2
The second game was a lot of fun, a game of Multi flag on Hangar 02, created by Duck Leader Insane54. It blocks off about 60% of Rat's Nest, leaving the outside curve accessible and access via grav lift to the pipe for a sneaky way to get into the opponent's base. The ducks had practiced their strategy, and it showed. They won a clean shutout victory mostly due to the aforementioned strategy, but also partially because the player they lent us (Shoruka) for this round left us halfway through the game, to be replaced by RunningChron about a minute or two before the game ended. But at least it evened out to 1 game apiece to each team.

Results: 3 Captures to 0 Ducks

Game 3: 1 Flag CTF on Reflex
The third map was Matty's mid-small Asymmetric wonder Reflex. It looked quite grim for Team Hammar after the Ducks scored in about a minute, and the staff seamed unable to move the flag in round two. But serendipity struck at the end of the round, when Orangeremi grabbed the flag to bring the round into sudden death, to be immediately propelled out of the playing area by a strange combination of jump, grenade, and grav hammer. This highly unexpected unrepeatable brake of the map cause Orange to feel his way about the map's hidden geometry and eventually work his way to the score point to keep Staff in the game. Hammar was saved by a hammer. How ironic. The rest of the game was comparatively uneventful, with both teams pulling off a capture before the round ended, tying the third game. You know what that means...

Results: Tied at 2 captures each

Game 4: MLG Team Slayer v5 on Hype
There was about 5 minutes when the players all argued about the tiebreaker, but eventually we decided to try MLG TS v5 on Hype. Only going to 50 kills this time, the Hammars showed superior map control, and despite my best efforts (see breakdown below) we managed to pull off the last victory, and there were no hard feelings at all, nobody saying that we should have played something else, or threats of any kind. Seriously.

Results: 50-36 to the Staff
