Two's Company

Welcome to Threshold! This 2v2 map sports one super huge gimmick. It has two separate, unique layouts and after three minutes in-game time, the players are forced to transition from one battlefield to another. This was a concept I originally wanted to apply to a 1v1 map for the contest but I couldn't flesh out two separate layouts I was fond of at the time.

From a gameplay standpoint, the map is focused on pop-engagements and blended short vs long range encounters. Players who are found of either the AR or Magnum can find favorite spots on this map. What's more, the map features no weapon pads or universal weapon indicators and both sides have unique weapon layouts. Weapon spawns need to be noted and timed by the players for accurate instant grabs.

How About A Change of Scenery?

Like stated above, this map does feature two unique layouts that players engage while on the map. The two playspaces do not interact and there is no returning to Area 1 after Phase 1 is over. Learn more below:

Two-Phase Gameplay"From a player standpoint, the gameplay is divided into three key phases.

Phase 1 > Transition > Phase 2

After three minutes, the players are prompted to exit Phase 1 via grav lift. This same grav lift cannot be interacted with until this point. Once the Transition is triggered, players will have 25 seconds to exit Phase 1 via grav lift or death before they are forcibly killed. A very loud and long-lasting SFX announces the start of Transition and visual prompts remain on the screen for anyone within Phase 1. After 15 seconds have passed inside the Transition, players receive one final prompt to exit the area.

There is what I call a "limbo" period for those that die during Transition. There is a 8 second period where spawns in both Phase 1 and 2 are disabled so that it is not an effective tactic to suicide to reach Phase 2 quicker than those using the lift.

Shield 1013: DYNASTY

This map is set on the Forerunner Shield World, DYNASTY. Like on all my maps, I've worked up a detailed back story and lore. I hope you enjoy!

For those who might seek such answers. KNOWING INTENT and her crew have [arrived] at a final conclusion. Our original mission, to eradicate the Flood has been determined inconceivable. Upon closer inspection of the [cruiser], we now estimate somewhere between 100,000 to 230,000 local Flood forms in it's capacity. INTENT carries only enough [firepower] to reduce the estimated count but not to reduce ranks to zero. Time is running short and we are too far from the [Maginot] line to request aid in this venture.

[Our] conclusion is to allow KNOWING INTENT to remain in DYNASTY's lower atmosphere in a low power ambient mode so that she may be retrieved by others at a later point. Her crew will ensure that DYNASTY is put to [slumber] so that no Flood may access it's contents. After the through destruction of all flight capable craft; we shall embark on one last ground venture.

All in all, I hope you enjoy the map. It was a fun conceptual project and I do plan on returning to Dynasty in the future for another map.
